UvoCorp: beyond the pages. Meet Eugene, the Founder

UvoCorp beyond the pages. Meet Eugene, the CEO

«I’m trying to do as much as I can for the benefit of the company, customers, writers, and society»

My name is Eugene, 38, and I’m the founder of UvoСorp, the person who launched the company.

I was dating a girl back in 2005. She is the second stakeholder in the company. One day I asked her what she was going to do after graduation. She said, ‘I have no idea what I’m going to do. I just have to work somewhere’. I said, ‘OK, what kind of work experience have you ever actually had?’ She said, ‘Oh, I worked as a support manager in a company that provides essay writing assistance for American students’. I said, ‘Alright, if that’s the only thing you ever did, let’s start our own company.’

We had only two weeks to write the first essay because if we had started planning a lot of things at the same time, it would have never happened. We scheduled the first essay to be written by November 20, 2005. I made a website very quickly. The only way to contact the management staff and writers was by the means of emails. There was no order form, no credit cards; there was nothing. Just the basic information. I ran an ad campaign on google adverts, and we received the first order on November 20, 2005. That is how it all started. Not to mention the 13 years of hard work, waking up at night, and not coming to bed until 1, 2, 3 am.

I’m not a writer and support officer anymore, but I do know very well what it takes to be a writer. To wake up at 4 am having to write 4 different essays on the same topic. Customers might not know what they want, but they will torture you until they get what they want.

Part of the success was the fact that we were the team of three founders who tried all kinds of different roles: web design, advertising management, software, database programming, writing, editing, quality assurance, financial management. We were involved in the process until the 3th or 4th year of the company’s existence. We ran everything ourselves.

People who see that the managers are competent in what they are doing trust and respect you. And they will be happy that you will never give them a task you have no idea about.

We did have crises in the history of UvoСorp, but the strategy we have set from the very beginning still works. So I think it was a right one.

We showed fair play with the ad strategy, while half of our competitors were doing dirty tricks with the Internet ads. It was pretty hard to do that at first, and it was a very long way. But by doing so, we are where we are right now, and our rivals are where they are. And everyone copies from us. Whatever we do on our website immediately appears on the 70% of the competitors’ websites. They are blindly following what we do, so there must be a reason for this. We set the trend.

One of the principles we put into the foundation of running Uvocorp is dedication to quality. It comes out of the sense of responsibility towards our customers, employees, and writers. We try to do everything as good as possible until we understand it’s done in a proper way. We polish all the business processes. Our KPI spreadsheet has around 70 application interfaces where everything is statistically analyzed.

We are never engaged in wars with our competitors; we never steal content from websites. Many people say, ‘Oh, you must be copying or rewriting your own essays’. If we say everything is written from scratch, everything is from scratch.

That spirit of cooperation in UvoСorp comes from the International Christian University I attended. There was this positive mood, very productive atmosphere between professors, university staff, and students. Professors were from different parts of the world, like the USA, Germany, India, France, Russia, etc. It was a highly international team.

With the growth of the company, the internal departments became their own states. There is a certain loss in this, but I hope that a spark of the cooperative spirit is still there. Guys who are here from the very beginning might be a bit tired of all these changes, but everyone is young and enthusiastic.

We never look at other websites, other essay writing companies. It has always been completely forbidden by me to act by stealing other people’s ideas. You can’t buy your own happiness by stealing or borrowing something. You have to develop something yourself.

Being able to generate authentic ideas is important on all the levels of running a company or writing academic papers. You need to synthesize whatever experience you had in your life. You are different, you have different people around you. Actively transform your own experience.

There’s a quote that characterizes the challenges writers face daily. American writer Jessamyn West once said,

“Writing is so difficult that I often feel that writers, having had their hell on earth, will escape all punishment hereafter”.

It’s always a fight with yourself. It’s a challenging task to generate well-structured ideas within a given time and instructions. There’s a chance you’ll miss the deadline; there’s a chance you’ll misunderstand the paper requirements; there’s a chance that Customer would not give you all the needed information about the essay. There’s a chance that Customer might not like your work despite the fact that you made everything correct. There are different challenges. But still it’s a rewarding thing because you develop your discipline, creative abilities, and writing skills. Some of the writers I spoke with were grateful that over the few years of their work with Uvocorp, it felt like they got 3 more university degrees.

I have a number of other businesses. In my spare time away from running Uvocorp, I manage a medical equipment company, which I engineered myself. I also have a hydrating water startup. It’s also some kind of a healthcare sphere. There’s also a property development enterprise.

In reality your success depends a lot on the people you work with. If you have a great team, it doesn’t take a lot of time to run a business. I’m talking about 13 years of constant development.

I have a big credit from God and really good teachers who taught me a lot. It would be really bad If I didn’t use the opportunity and abilities the life has given me.

What would I do if I were a God for a day? It takes an entire life to become a person. If anyone was a God, they would lead the world to catastrophe in 24 hours. God is the most ingenious director.

I’ve been to everywhere except South America, 90% of Africa. I’ve travelled all over Europe, a bit of Asia, and the USA. One time our writers invited me to Kenya. I couldn’t come because of my family issues last year. So at some point in future, I’d love to go to Kenya.

If I had to redo anything this year, I’d never start smoking again.

The best book I read this year was ‘My Elder Joseph the Hesychast’ by Ephraim. This book shows the limit how to live life. It’s about the people who have realized their potential to the fullest in the way God wanted them to lead the life.

What are the company’s future plans? We are thinking about creating a service for helping students do their homework themselves. There’s a question how this service is gonna look like. We have different ideas in mind, but they all have to be tested.

There is a market for the ready-made essays. For example, when Chinese students go to the USA, they don’t know the language like the natives do. And they don’t want to feel left behind. So until they catch up with the rest of students in terms of mastering the English, written and verbal one, they use our services as a backup tool to keep their GPA at a certain level. When customers get our product, they still learn at least by reading what’s there.

I don’t see any threat of artificial intelligence for the business. Today it’s impossible to make AI write a coherent paper. It can only rephrase material from the web. I’m following the latest technologies, and they are far from being able to generate an intelligible text according to the instructions. It’s not there yet, not at least in the nearest 5 years.

Talking about future and existing writers, guys, keep up the good job. It’s paying off. In the long or short term, hard work and dedication are the keys to realizing your potential. Keep an eye on our website updates. Maybe we’ll introduce some new products in terms of this new students assistance service. We are doing a lot of research right now. Good luck, everyone.
