The ability to select the location and the surroundings of the workplace is amongst the main benefits of being a freelance writer. While the majority of time I prefer working from home, occasionally I get an opportunity to work outside of the home office. One of such opportunities was a visit to Brussels as a part of a business trip for the consulting job I held at the time. I spent three days in the city, visiting the conference during the day and writing in the mornings and evenings. The conference lasted for two days, so I had the chance to look around the city on the third day, while doing some work as well.
The day began early with an email notification about the force-assigned order. It was an urgent one, but did not require much time, so I was done by 7 am, just in time for breakfast at the hotel. After having some bacon, eggs, and coffee, I put my laptop in my backpack, put on my favorite running shoes and began my journey around the city. My destination was Atomium, one of the main tourist attractions of Brussels.
The morning was beautiful, since it was an early spring. It was not too hot yet, as the air was fresh and the sun was sending its warm rays upon the blossoming trees. It is a real pleasure for me to take a long walk in a new city. The best part is observing people minding their own things: getting to work, shopping, or just wandering around. I got to the Atomium by noon, and spent several hours looking around. It is possible to see the entire city of Brussels from the Atomium and the view is amazing. Afterwards, I had my lunch in the park nearby, while doing some work. The work included doing calculations in Finance and assessing the performance of the company, which is amongst my favorite types of orders. I hit “Upload” button after a couple of hours of work in the fresh air.
I returned to the hotel in the evening, having visited the local mall and the park. The active day always inspires me and contributes to the higher quality of the working process. I grabbed food for dinner at the local street food festival. The dinner was delicious and I had one more order to complete this evening. I completed the remaining work, watched TV, and went to bed. It was one of my favorite working days with Uvocorp.
